About Little Stitch Studio

Where fashion meets fun—and learning lasts a lifetime.

Little Stitch Studio is a sewing and fashion design studio for kids and teens in Norfolk, Virginia. Since 2014, we’ve supported hundreds of young designers as they build confidence, learn practical skills, and discover the satisfaction of making something by hand.

Whether your child is just starting out or dreaming of a future in fashion, we offer a welcoming studio environment where creativity is encouraged and skills are taught step by step.

Fashion Education for Kids and Teens

Classes are held throughout the school year, September through May, with ongoing enrollment as space allows.

Our small-group programs are designed to grow with students as their skills, interests, and independence develop. Returning students receive priority enrollment, and new students are welcomed as space becomes available.

Kids Sewing & Design

Ages 6–12

One-hour weekly sewing classes built around carefully sequenced projects and progressive skill development. Students learn foundational sewing and construction skills while developing confidence, independence, and creative problem-solving.

Fashion Lab

Ages 11–18

A studio-based fashion design program focused on how designers observe, research, experiment, edit, and communicate ideas. Students explore fashion history, textiles, color, silhouette, illustration, draping, styling, and collection development.

Teen Sewing & Design

Ages 12–18

Ninety-minute weekly studio classes for students ready to develop stronger sewing, construction, and design skills. Students progress toward increasingly independent projects while refining technique, fit, finishing, and their own creative point of view.

Designed for Growth

Each year, we introduce new projects so students can continue building skills over time. Many students return year after year—developing independence, creative confidence, and strong technical skill through consistent practice and thoughtful instruction.

Some students go on to advanced fashion programs, including:

  • The Governor’s School for the Arts

  • Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU)

  • Radford University

  • Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)

  • Pratt Institute

  • Parsons School of Design

But the most important outcomes? The confidence, creativity, and technical skill that come from hands-on making.

Welcome To Little Stitch Studio

At Little Stitch Studio, we welcome students of all levels and encourage them to try, learn, and experiment. With patience and clear guidance, progress feels steady and earned. Whether your child is here to learn to sew, explore fashion design, or build a portfolio, we’ll meet them where they are and help them grow.
