Studio Policies

These policies are here to keep scheduling fair, materials planned, and classes running smoothly for everyone. Please read before registering.

Supplies & Projects

Studio Supplies

Little Stitch Studio is stocked with a wide selection of high-quality fabrics, thread, and notions for class projects. If a student wishes to work with a specific fabric or material not available in the studio, they are welcome to bring their own.

Teen Project Pathway

Teens work on projects suited to their experience level, ranging from accessories and tops to more advanced garments like dresses or jackets. Beginners follow a foundation learning course before transitioning to self-selected projects, allowing students to build skills with confidence while exploring personal creativity.

Project Completion

I provide guidance, demonstrations, and a structured workroom environment, but project completion is ultimately up to each student. Progress depends on focus, effort, and how a student chooses to engage with their work. Our 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio supports close mentorship and skill development.

Arrival, Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Arrival & Drop-Off

Please do not drop off more than five minutes before the scheduled start time. The studio door opens at the start time so I can prepare materials and the space.

Kids Classes

Kids classes are drop-off only. The studio does not have a waiting area.

Pick-Up & Tardiness

Please arrive on time for pick-up. If you are running late, call or text. Late pick-ups disrupt dismissal and instruction.

Refunds, Cancellations & Credits

General Policy (All Programs)

Because Little Stitch Studio runs small, materials-based programs with limited seats, we do not offer refunds for missed days or no-shows.

Program-specific policies are listed below (weekly classes, camps, workshops, parties). Please review your schedule carefully before registering.

Missed Days/ No Shows

If a student misses a class, camp day, or workshop, whether due to illness, travel, or other conflicts—tuition is forfeited and cannot be credited or applied to other programs.

Cancellations, Transfers, etc.

Transfers (When Available)

Multi-Week Sessions
If you need to move a registration to a different day/time within the same session, we may be able to accommodate a transfer with at least one week’s notice, based on availability and equal value.

Camps, Workshops, Parties & One-Time Events

Transfers are not available for camps, workshop, parties, or one-time events unless otherwise explicitly stated in the program description.

Weekly Ongoing Classes (Fall/Winter/Spring)

Make-Up Class Policy

Make-up Classes (Multi-Week Sessions Only)

Students are responsible for attending the classes for which they are registered. Each student may schedule one (1) make-up class per 8-week session, by advance arrangement and as space allows, within the same session. Make-ups are held during another class time and are scheduled at the instructor’s discretion.

No make-ups are offered for workshops.

Date Transfers

If you need to transfer a registration to a different day/time within the same session, please give at least one week’s notice. Transfers must be of equal value and are based on availability.

Annual Supply Fee (Weekly Ongoing Classes Only)

New students in weekly ongoing classes pay an annual $75 supply fee per school year.
This fee does not apply to camps, workshops, parties, or one-time events.

Workshops & One-Time Events

Workshop and one-time event registrations are final.
No refunds, credits, make-ups, or transfers are offered for missed workshops.

Inclement Weather

Instructor Illness / Emergency

Little Stitch Studio generally follows Norfolk Public Schools inclement weather closings. If NPS is closed due to weather, class will be canceled.

If the studio is open and a class, camp, or workshop is held as scheduled, it is considered “in session.” Choosing not to attend due to weather concerns, travel concerns, or personal preference is treated as an absence and does not qualify for a refund, credit, transfer, or reschedule.

For weekly sessions, we schedule designated make-up days each session. If closures exceed those days, the session may be extended to maintain instructional time. Because of small class size and fixed costs, we do not offer refunds for weather-related cancellations. If rescheduling becomes impossible, we may provide a short virtual lesson or recorded tutorial to maintain continuity.

Instructor Illness / Emergency

If the instructor must cancel due to illness, injury, or emergency, families will be notified as soon as possible. When appropriate, Little Stitch Studio may provide a qualified substitute instructor, reschedule, or adjust program structure to maintain a safe, meaningful experience.Little Stitch Studio generally follows Norfolk Public Schools closures. If NPS is closed due to weather, class will be canceled.

Waiver

A signed waiver is required for all participants under age 18 and must be completed by a parent/guardian prior to attendance.

Behavior & Studio Expectations

Expectations

Students are expected to:

follow safety rules and instructor directions

participate respectfully and kindly

help clean up

Consequences

If behavior disrupts safety or instruction:

  1. Instructor redirects and reviews expectations.

  2. Student takes a short break; parent may be contacted.

  3. Student may be dismissed for the day; parent must pick up.

If a student is dismissed from a camp or event due to behavior, no refund is issued.

Phones

Phones are not permitted during class unless the student has explicit permission. If brought to class, phones must be silenced.

Parking

Street parking is available on Shirley and Colley. A small lot is located across the street. The driveway between the studio and the neighboring building may be used for quick drop-off/pick-up, but is not a parking space.

Summer Camps

Camp Registration Policy

Behavior

Summer camp registrations are final.
No refunds, credits, transfers, or make-up days are offered for any reason, including illness, travel, schedule conflicts, late arrivals, or early pick-up.

If a camper misses a day (or part of a day), tuition is forfeited and cannot be applied to other programs, private lessons, workshops, or after-school classes.

If a camper is dismissed due to misbehavior, no refund will be issued.

Birthday Parties & Group Events

Birthday parties and group events follow the Little Stitch Studio Party Contract.

Deposit: A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve the studio. The remaining balance is due the day of the party/event.

If you cancel: The deposit is forfeited.

Inclement Weather / Unforeseen Circumstances: If a party must be canceled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the deposit remains non-refundable to cover advance planning and costs. If the party is canceled rather than rescheduled, any payments made beyond the deposit will be refunded within 10 business days.

Date changes: We require three weeks’ notice for any date/time changes. New dates must be within three months of the original date, subject to availability.

Pricing & guest count: Party pricing is per child. We will confirm the final guest count the Wednesday prior to the event; this count is used to determine the final balance. Little Stitch Studio may not be able to accommodate a guest increase of more than two participants.
