Teen classes blend strong sewing technique with fashion design thinking, so students aren’t just following steps. They learn how to plan, build, test, and refine their work.

Core skills we teach and reinforce:

• Machine sewing + professional studio habits

• Fit, finishing, and quality

• Pattern skills: reading patterns, basic modifications, and drafting foundations

• Design development: concept → plan → prototype → final

As skills grow, students may explore:

• Draping and garment shaping

• Fabric manipulation and surface detail

• Advanced seams and high-end finishing

Projects are matched to experience level so growth feels steady and earned.

• Beginners follow a foundation sequence to build confidence and core control before moving into self-selected projects.

• Continuing students choose projects that stretch skills (tops, skirts, dresses, jackets, accessories—varies by student and session).

Materials: Students may bring specialty fabrics if they have something specific in mind. Little Stitch Studio studio is also stocked with a wide selection of fabrics, thread, and notions for most projects.

A studio rhythm keeps the room calm, creative, and productive—while still leaving space for individual direction.

Most classes include:

• A focused overview of the individual steps to complete during class.

• Work time with coaching, troubleshooting, and check-ins

• Finishing/pressing/quality checks as time allows

• A short wrap-up: what we learned + what’s next

Students work at different speeds, but everyone is guided toward strong habits: accuracy, construction, fit and thoughtful finishing.

Students sew on bernette b38 machines with safety features. As skills grow, advanced tools such as sergers, embroidery machine, and coverstitch machine will be introduced as appropriate.

We prioritize safe, confident equipment use; introduced step-by-step, with supervision.

Fashion education includes context. Alongside making, students have access to curated studio resources that support deeper learning and better design decisions.

Depending on the student and project, this may include:

• Reference books and studio samples (construction + finishing)

• Fabric and materials knowledge (how fiber + structure affects outcome)

• Fashion history and designer research for inspiration and context

• Design planning tools (sketching, notes, measurement tracking, prototypes)

Progress comes from consistent practice. Our goal is a studio environment where teens learn to work with intention—and take real ownership of their projects.

Students do best when they:

• Attend regularly and arrive ready to work

• Stay engaged during demos and practice time

• Follow through between steps (pressing, pinning, checking, refining)

I provide structure, demonstrations, and coaching. Students do the hands-on work and learn how to problem-solve like designers.

Registration + Enrollment

Little Stitch Studio classes are designed as an ongoing school-year program running from September through May. Enrollment reserves your student's place in their weekly class for the school year and continues automatically through May unless withdrawn according to the policy below.

Class sizes are intentionally limited to six students. Returning students receive priority enrollment, and new students are accepted as space becomes available.

An annual $75 registration and materials fee is due at enrollment and reserves your student's place for the school year. Monthly tuition is billed automatically from September through May at a fixed monthly rate. Tuition is based on the full school-year program rather than the number of individual class meetings in a particular month.

Withdrawal

We understand that schedules and circumstances can change during the school year. If your student needs to withdraw, please provide 30 days' written notice. Tuition payments scheduled within the 30-day notice period remain due. After the notice period, future recurring payments will be canceled.

Missed Classes + Make-Ups

Because classes are small and enrollment is limited, we cannot guarantee a make-up for every student absence. When space is available, students may be offered an appropriate make-up class during the school year.

Classes canceled by Little Stitch Studio due to weather, instructor illness, or other unforeseen circumstances will be rescheduled whenever reasonably possible. School-year tuition is calculated for the overall program and is not adjusted based on the number of class meetings in an individual month.
