Teens personalize their garment through a guided menu of options; examples may include pockets, trims, tiers, neckline or sleeve variations, length changes, and finishing upgrades. This keeps the week productive and achievable while still allowing self-expression.
-
Optional “studio prompts” help students capture the story of a project; how an idea becomes a finished garment—without turning camp into an intensive portfolio course.
Depending on interest and pacing, prompts may include:Ideation sketches + concept exploration
Mood boards and visual research
A simple “collection connector” page (silhouette, palette, material direction, etc.)
Figure drawings and/or technical flats (as appropriate)
Process documentation + reflection
Students seeking deeper portfolio development are encouraged to continue in our Portfolio Studio offerings. -

Each session features a selection of garment projects (or a coordinated set), with personalization options built in. Final project selection may vary by session based on fabric availability, student experience levels, and studio pacing.
-
Teens use bernette b38 sewing machines and have access to professional tools, including dress forms, drafting blocks and tools, Cricut, an embroidery machine, a coverstitch machine, and sergers for finishing techniques (as appropriate to skill and pacing).
-
Campers have access to our extensive studio library; books on fashion history, design, sewing, patternmaking, and draping—plus textiles, illustration, color, art and design theory resources. We also rotate visual references and materials for inspiration and research.
-
This is a true studio experience. Students are expected to participate, stay engaged, and follow instructions. I provide structured guidance and hands-on support; however, project completion depends on each student’s focus, effort, and time management. The week concludes with a fashion showcase where students present what they created.
